ESI: ICT with Industry workshop

Impression of the ICT with Industry workshop

Imagine that in the future a system architect will have a digital assistant that helps to create architectures, checks consistency, reads documents, identifies gaps in knowledge, adds new architectural knowledge, and finds or optimizes various solutions.

Recently ESI and Océ have provided this challenging industrial case for the 'ICT with Industry' workshop organized by the ICT research Platform Netherlands, affiliated with NWO. In this one-week workshop at the Lorenz Center in Leiden, ESI collaborated with a team of dedicated researchers from various ICT-disciplines with the aim to expand the model-based system architecting (MBSA) approach. During the workshop it was found that many powerful techniques, such as social network analysis, knowledge graphs, NLP, and semantic web technology may be good first steps to increase the value of models that are used in the daily architecting practice. The results of the workshop will be used to define further collaboration with academia, notably TU/e, VU and Gran Sasso Science Institute (Italy), and possibly a PhD research proposal.
