Smart algorithms monitor marine traffic (Metis)

Metis is the project name for a new method to monitor and manage coastal areas with a minimum of resources.

The ICT challenge is creating viable situational awareness systems that can automatically collect, align, reason upon and visualize information from a number of heterogeneous sources pertaining to public safety and security.

The technologies developed by the Metis project are general in nature and can be applied to other domains requiring intelligent data collection & assimilation, advanced reasoning, configuration optimization and intuitive presentation of findings. In addition to a variety of safety and security cases other domains can benefit.
