Strategic Research Agenda
The ESI research agenda is designed to address the growing challenges that face our partners and participants by increasing the quality and predictability of embedded system designs.
ESI’s main focus is on raising the level of multidisciplinary techniques and tooling used to design and develop high-tech embedded systems. This is of primary interest for organisations developing or specifying leading edge products, infrastructures and services.
The results are intended for application by industry, academic advancement, but are also highly relevant for societal parties responsible for traffic, rail transport, national security and emergency response.
The research strategy detailed in the ESI Strategic Research Agenda 2012 has been strongly influenced by the needs of society and industry. It has been prepared after consultation with ESI’s extensive open-innovation network consisting of leading high-tech industries, government authorities and a broad range of academic groups.
The multidisciplinary nature of system level design and development has been chosen as the focus and is divided into the following four main industrial programmes:
- System performance;
- System quality and reliability;
- Future proof systems;
- Systems in context.
These programmes are underpinned by ESI’s main technical disciplines of system architecting, system design, and system integration & test.
