ESI 1.20 Master Class Project Management of Complex Systems
ESI offers a five-day master class on Project Management of Complex Systems.
This project-based course exposes paticipants to tools and methodologies useful for
the effective management of systems engineering and engineering management
projects. This course presents the tools and techniques for project definition,
work breakdown, estimating, resource planning, critical path development,
scheduling, project monitoring and control, and scope management. These tools
will be presented within the context of a life cycle and a systems approach.
Participants will be exposed to advanced project management software. Reinforcing
these fundamentals in project management, the course will introduce advanced
concepts in project management, and establish the building blocks for the
management of complex systems.

The target audience of this master class are designers, systems engineers,
project managers, integrated product team members, business managers, and
contract administrators. People who are involved with any aspect of system and
business analysis, design and development, mission capability and business
process definition and architecting, and test and verification will find this
module to be useful.
This course is a five-day course, where theory and practice are mixed
continuously.
- Day 1: Executive Overview; Bounding Project Scope; Leading and Managing the Project Team
- Day 2: Work Breakdown and Organizational Structures; Task Planning; Project Network Modeling
- Day 3: Project Management Software; Resource Leveling and Project Budget
- Day 4: Project Control; Project Quality Management; Contracting and Sub-contracting; Risk Management
- Day 5: Evaluating, Directing, and Closing Out a Project; Business Ethics;

The maximum number of participants is 16. Participation is possible as an individual or in small teams from the same company (typically 3 to 5 participants).
