Multi-Objective System Architecting & Design- course
The ESI offers a three-day course on Multi-objective Embedded Systems
Architecting and Design, based on the CAFCR framework. This framework is a multi-view method that
helps system architects to combine gathered information into a coherent
overview.
The target audience consists of (potential) architects and specialized
engineers who have a system focus. The maximum number of participants is 16. We
aim for teams of 3 to 5 participants from the same business. They work together
in applying the theory on one of their products.
Participation is possible in two different ways:
| 1) |
together with other companies. Participation is combined
with 2 or 3 other non-competitive companies. Each company applies
the theory on one of their own existing or future products, while
experiences will be shared at several moments during the course.
|
| 2) |
in-house. The course will take place in your own company where
you will work on your own existing or future products. The maximum
number of participants is 16. |
The CAFCR model is a decomposition of an architecture description into five
views:
The
Customers objective view (
what does the customer want to
achieve) and
the
Application view (
how does the customer realize his goals) capture
the needs of the customer. The
what and
how customers view provide the justification (
why)
for the specification and the design.
The
Functional view describes the
what of the product, which
includes (despite its name) the
non-functional requirements.
The
how of the product is described in the
Conceptual and
Realization
views.
The three-day course has - for the most part - practical components. Each day starts
with a short introduction in the distinguished view and sub methods, which help
to visualize this view. Next the participants do view exercises for their own
application and iterate twice between the technical realization and the
customers requirements.
