Introduction
We live in a world where industry needs new products to be developed in an increasingly rapid pace, where product offerings become more and more complex and where your products must flawlessly integrate in an interconnected global network. If your organization wants to survive these challenges and even grow ahead of the competition, your organization needs a structured way of innovation and smart system architectures to cope with these future demands.

Training programs to support industrial product innovation
The Embedded Systems Institute offers a range of training programs that support industrial product innovation. These programs are designed to improve the architectural and multidisciplinary design skills and create better awareness of the challenges of the competitive industrial setting in which your company operates.

System Engineering in your Company
An integrated view of your system, where different disciplines and departments in your company are able to communicate with one another and where the key drivers of your stakeholders are clearly in focus. The complete chain from customer needs, the understanding of its application domain, the required functionality of your product, towards the concepts used in the systems architecture and the actual realization of the systems design, will become clear by using the methods used from our training programs. This overview of the process chain and its interrelations will significantly improve your product creation process, making it simpler to set the right priorities and make correct design choices.

A program for those who want to lead Engineering
In order to deal with the increasing complexity and innovation effort, high-tech industry is in a strong need for highly qualified and experienced professionals who can act on a system level The program offered by the Embedded Systems Institute is meant for professionals in high-tech industry with a technical background who want to grow on system level without leaving engineering. The Embedded Systems Institute supports and accelerates the growth from a mono-disciplinary engineer into a multi-disciplinary system architect who is able to align technology- and design choices with product, market and business drivers on a strategic level.

Designer
The program on designer level is meant for mono-disciplinary engineers and designers with multiple years of industrial experience who have the ambition to become a multidisciplinary designer who is active in a broader architectural and system context. Main learning objectives on this level are; broadening the technology scope, understanding the fundamentals of system engineering and positioning system engineering in a project based organization.

Domain architect
The program on domain architect level is meant for multidisciplinary designers who have the ambition to become a domain architect who is responsible for a substantial part of the system. Multiview system architecting, handling multiple system qualities, dealing with uncertainty, making trade-offs with impact on a system and organizational level and leadership are typical issues addressed on this level. Examples of typical domains are subsystems or a dominant system functions.

System architect
The program on system architect level is meant for domain architects who want to become a system architect. As a system architect you are not only responsible for the systems architecture as a whole but also directly involved in developing architectures for future high tech systems based on new business opportunities. Besides architectural issues such as platform design, product line development and system evolvability also roadmapping, business innovation and leadership are addressed. On this competence level participants are challenged by international gurus and peers. Participants are supposed to bring their own business case.

Courses
As mentioned above the courses of the Embedded Systems Institute are coupled to the participants knowledge and experience. The contents of these courses is continuously fed and updated with the results from the research performed by the Embedded Systems Institute and its partners.

Currently the Embedded Systems Institute offers the following courses:

Designer level

Domain architect

System architect

Competence Development Program
Besides courses the Embedded Systems Institute also offers a more intensive competence development program to accelerate growth from a mono-disciplinary engineer into a multi-disciplinary system architect. The program is offered on three levels and combines courses with practical assignments, thematic working groups and personal coaching.

The lead-designer level will start on May 25, 2010
The domain architect level is scheduled to start in September 2010

In-house Training
To expressly address the challenges your organization faces during product creation, the Embedded Systems Institute, can offer an in-house training tailored to your specific company needs. After a thorough intake process, the optimal approach and content is selected and agreed upon. Preferably with attendees from the entire product creation chain in your company, our in-house or on-site training will support you in creating the right business focus of the system engineering discipline, with the required understanding across functions, disciplines and stakeholders, and a clear focus on creating real customer value.

Other
Next to these courses, the other knowledge sharing activities at ESI will facilitate the personal growth of a (potential) system architect.
